Sommerso Italian Art Glass

The Sommerso (in English, submerged) technique layers colored glass inside clear to achieve beautiful effects in vases, bowls, and other glass artwork. It was developed in Murano in the 1930s by Carlo Scarpa and popularized twenty years later by Seguso d'Arte.
